After flying 45 minutes from Kathmandu, you’ll land at Lukla airport. Amidst the beautiful hills and mountains sits Lukla, the popular town in Khumbu Valley.

The 527-meter runway, with its arduous approach, makes it the scariest airport in the world. However, the Nepali helicopter pilots are the most experienced ones who land the aircraft swiftly.

During the trekking season in Spring and Autumn, Lukla becomes the busiest town. Even the helipad gets busier, with helicopters landing and taking off every once in a while.

At this first stopping place, you’ll stop for 15-20 minutes.

Hotel Everest View, Syangboche

Atop a beautiful hill on the northeast end of Namche Bazaar sits Hotel Everest View, the best viewpoint in the Khumbu region. At 3,880 meters, this place is everyone’s favorite for breakfast. Why? It’s because of the surreal mountain vista and the experience it offers.

Just imagine how it feels to sip a cappuccino with the gorgeous Mt. Everest standing in front.

Breakfast at this hotel is nothing sort of a once-in-a-lifetime experience. And if you can play piano, there’s a grand piano with a view of Mt. Everest.

You’ll visit this hotel after completing the Everest Base Camp Tour by Helicopter. You’ll spend more than an hour in the courtyard of this hotel.

Pheriche- The beautiful Sherpa settlement amidst beautiful mountains

Pheriche is a beautiful Sherpa settlement at 4,371 meters on the lap of Mt. Cholatse. East of this settlement is beautiful Mt. Ama Dablam.

The helicopter stops at Pheriche for the shuttle. Past Pheriche, the chopper carries three passengers at most. Hence, you’ll have to wait for your turn to board the helicopter for the Kala Patthar tour. While waiting, you can enjoy the beautiful mountain sight.

Pheriche is popular among the Everest Base Camp Trekkers and the climbers. The trekkers returning from Gorak Shep stop overnight at Pheriche. And the climbers stay here to acclimate.

Adjacent to Pheriche is Dingboche, another beautiful settlement in the region.

Kala Patthar- The Ultimate Viewpoint

At 5,644 meters in the Everest region is the ultimate vantage point, Kala Patthar. The helicopter tour to Everest culminates here. The reason is the out-of-this-world view of Everest, Lhotse, Pumori, and Nuptse.

The helicopter stops here for five minutes. This timeframe is sufficient enough to create the lifetime Everest experience. You’ll take beautiful photos and videos and believe that the world’s highest mountain is right in front, that too up-close.
