Annapurna South is a 7,219-meter mountain, adjacent to Annapurna I, the 10th-highest mountain. Further, next to this elegant mountain sits a 6,441-meter-high Hiunchuli.

North-East to Mardi View Point is elegant Gangapurna and Annapurna III. And, more towards the East, is Machhapuchhre, the most celebrated and striking mountain in the Annapurna range. Left to Machhapuchhre sits Mardi Himal.

Mardi Himal Trek Itinerary- Detailed Breakdown
Day 2: Trek from Pitam Deurali to Low Camp (2,990 meters, 7 km, 6 hours)
Day two starts with a breakfast at the tea house in Deurali.
After breakfast, you'll walk through a lush forest for an hour. And with a final 20-minute sharp uphill climb, you'll reach Lovely Hill.
40 minutes past Lovely Hill are two tea houses where you'll stop for rehydration and a tea break. Also, it's an ideal rest spot before trekking to Forest Camp.
1.5 hours from the two tea houses take you to Forest Camp. You'll stop at a tea house here for lunch.
The trail winds up to Rest Camp for 30 minutes. And from Rest Camp, you'll trek two more hours to low camp.
We'll call it a day off at Low Camp. Here, you'll settle in at the best available tea house for overnight accommodation.
Day 3: Trek from Low Camp to High Camp (3,550 meters, 5 km, 4 hours)
As usual, your morning starts with breakfast at the tea house in Low Camp.
From here, you'll take a gradual ascend to Badal Danda. It takes 1-1.5 hours to trek to Badal Danda from Low Camp. And, once you reach Badal Danda, you'll get a mesmerizing glimpse of Annapurna South, Hiunchuli, Machhapuchhre, and Mardi Himal.
Ascending slowly, you'll trek to Mardi High Camp in two hours from Badal Danda.
Upon reaching the high camp, you'll settle in at the tea house for lunch, dinner, and accommodation.
Tip: Sunset over Annapurna looks wholesome from the high camp. Don't sleep! Go out to watch the sunset.
Day 4: Morning hike to Mardi View Point (4,500 meters, 2 km, 2.5 hours). Trek to Low Camp (2,990 meters, 5 km, 3 hours)
Today, you'll wake up at 3:30 am to start the 2.5-hour hike to Mardi View Point for sunrise. And if you walk slowly, your trek guide will even start the hike early.
Leaving the tea house at High Camp, you'll walk along the winding trail with steep ascends at times. On average, it's an uphill climb with few tiring sections.
You'll spend one hour at the viewpoint for the sunrise and photographs. You'll get tea at the tea houses in View Point.
You'll trek down to the tea house at High Camp for breakfast. And after breakfast, you'll descend to Low Camp.
Lunch will be at Lower Badal Danda or at the Low Camp.
It takes three hours to trek from the high camp to the low camp.
Upon reaching low camp, you'll settle in at the best available tea house for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 5: Trek from Low Camp to Siddhing (1,750 meters, 4 km, 3 hours). Drive to Pokhara (822 meters, 1.5 hours)
With breakfast at the tea house in Low Camp, you'll start the beautiful walk to Siddhing.
Almost all of the trail between Low Camp and Siddhing is a downhill walk. Moreover, the stone-paved stairs persist along the route. Thus, at times, you may develop sore thighs.
A three to four-hour slow-paced walk takes you to Siddhing. Here, at the tea house, you'll stop for lunch.
After lunch, you'll take a private jeep drive to Pokhara. It takes 1.5-2 hours to reach Pokhara from Siddhing.
You'll get a hotel drop on a private jeep.
With this, your five-day adventure of Mardi Himal Trek ends.
Mardi Himal Trek- Additional Information
How difficult is the Mardi Himal Trek?
Mardi Himal isn’t difficult to embark on. It’s probably among the easiest treks in Nepal, and it’s the absolute best for novice trekkers.
Most sections of this trek are within mid-hills. Thus, trekkers won’t have the issue of altitude sickness. Moreover, the route is steeper at a few sections only. Therefore, you won’t develop fatigue or experience difficulty in trekking.
Accommodation and Meals
You’ll get one-night accommodation at a star hotel in Lakeside, Pokhara with breakfast. You can benefit from this one night stay before or after the trek.
Accommodation and meals along the trek will be at the tea houses. The tea houses along the trek are good and offer quality accommodation and hygienic meals.
For accommodation, you’ll get twin sharing rooms. You’ll get attached toilets at Siddhing and Pitam Deurali. However, you’ll have to use the shared toilet at Low Camp and High Camp.
You’ll get three meals each day, one breakfast, one lunch, and one dinner. All the meals will be from the menu.
Tips: If you prefer brewed coffee, some tea houses provide it. The tea houses at places like Australian Camp, Pothana, and Badal Danda sell roasted coffee from the machine.
Trek Permits
Mardi Himal Trek is in the Annapurna Conservation Area (ACAP). Hence, the Annapurna Conservation Area Permit is a must for this trek.
Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP) costs Rs. 3000 for foreigners and Rs. 1000 for SAARC Nationals.

Transportation
The transportation for five days of Mardi Himal Trek will be a two-way private jeep.
You’ll take a private jeep from the hotel to the trek starting point at Kande. From here, you’ll trek to Mardi High Point and trek down to Siddhing before taking a jeep to Pokhara.
Before trekking a private jeep from Siddhing to Pokhara, you’ll trek from Low Camp, stop at a lodge for lunch, and drive back to Pokhara.
Altitude Sickness on Mardi Himal Trek
Five-day itinerary for this trek is perfect in the sense that you’ll ascend slowly, which prevents you from getting altitude sickness. Thus, Mardi Himal Trek is an altitude sickness risk-free trek.
You’ll start the trek with a drive from Pokhara at 822 meters. The trek begins from Kande at 1,740 meters. From here, you’ll trek to Australian Camp, Pothana, and Pitam Deurali. Eventually, you’ll call it a day off at Pitam Deurali at 2,100 meters.
Next day, you’ll trek to Low Camp via Forest Camp and Rest Camp. On this day, you’ll sleep at 2,990 meters.
And on the next day, you’ll trek to High Camp at 3,550 meters.
In this way, you’ll ascend gradually, which is an ideal way to prevent altitude sickness.
Therefore, the Mardi Himal Trek for five days is the safest, easiest, and altitude sickness-free trek.

Travel Insurance
Despite a short and easy trek, embarking on the Mardi Himal Trek can still get risky at times. Walking through the lush forest, mid-hills, and high-altitude viewpoint exposes you to the wilderness. And at times, the wilderness can put you at risk. Hence, against the risk, you’ll need travel insurance with helicopter rescue coverage.
For example, if you get altitude sickness or get injured along the trek, you’ll need a rapid descent. During such instances, you’ll need a helicopter rescue for rapid descent. Moreover, travel insurance covers hospitalization costs, medications, and other emergencies.
Thus, it’s highly recommended that you get travel insurance with helicopter rescue for Mardi Himal Trek.

In Kathmandu?
Mardi Himal Trek is a five-day trek from Pokhara-High Camp-View Point- to Pokhara. Thus, we’ll count five days from Pokhara.
However, if you’re in Kathmandu and want to start the trek from there, it’ll be a six-day trek. Moreover, if you want to return to Kathmandu with us, the trek will last seven days.
To reach Pokhara, you’ll have the option of 20-minute flight or a 10-hour drive. If you prefer a flight, it costs USD 98, one way. Likewise, the tourist bus ticket costs USD 15.
Mardi Himal and Annapurna Base Camp Trek
Combining Mardi Himal and Annapurna Base Camp Trek can be an exciting adventure in Annapurna Sanctuary. Moreover, if you’ve already been to Ghorepani and Poon Hill, Mardi Himal Trek before embarking on Annapurna Base Camp can be an ideal choice.
Mardi Himal and Landruk are doable in four days. Likewise, Chhomrong via Ghorepani is also doable in four days. On the fifth day of either trek, you’ll join the Annapurna Base Camp Trek Route at Chhomrong. And from Chhomrong, you’ll trek for three days to the base camp.
Thus, Mardi Himal and Annapurna Base Camp Trek can be alternated to 10 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek via Poon Hill. Moreover, the number of trek days is similar in both treks.
Physical Fitness
Anyone with decent physical fitness can embark on the Mardi Himal Trek and complete it successfully. Since the trek route’s grade is easy to moderate, a regular walker can easily complete the trek each day.
