Hence, to amuse yourself with the ancient wonders and beauty of the city, two days are a must. Our two-day completeKathmandu City Tour takes you to ancient royal palaces, museums, and three prominent pilgrimage sites full of ancient culture, enriched heritage, and architecture.
Before we explore this tour package in-depth, here’s our blog on the Ten best places to visit in Kathmandu in 2024. Please go through this blog to learn more about multiple places you might be interested in visiting. You can write us at mailtoneptrek@gmail.com to plan this tour exquisitely.
This section includes a brief of each place you’ll visit during your two days of the Kathmandu City Tour. Also, we’ve put the price of entry tickets to each site you’ll tour.
Once a hippie haven, Kathmandu Durbar Square is now a tourist place. Close to Thamel, where most tourists stay, reaching here by narrow bustling alleys is just a 10-minute walk. However, you’ll take a private vehicle drive on your guided two-day Kathmandu Sightseeing Tour with us.
The first construction of this site dates to the 3rd century. However, the complex structures are from the 15th and 16th century. Hence, while touring here, you’ll get the timeless vibe of every monument.

You’ll take a detailed tour around Kumari Chowk, the Nine-Storied Palace, the Royal Museum, and another popular place on the site.
Patan Durbar Square
Patan Durbar Square was once a royal palace of Malla Kings of Patan. Out of three Durbar Squares, it is the most beautiful, with the best museum. Also, the grassy courtyard, gold water sprout, magnificent woodwork, and overall architecture are the best.
Krishna Mandir, Bhimsen Temple, and Taleju Bhawani Temple are major structures sitting west of the royal palace. Inside the museum are three courtyards where the Malla kings and queens once stepped on.
Apart from the temples and palaces, the rooftop cafes around the site make it more appealing. You can enjoy the unobstructed aerial-like view from the rooftop cafes.
Have plans to buy Thangka Paintings or other souvenirs? The handicraft and art shops in the alleys close to the site are worth the visit.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square
Bhaktapur Durbar Square sits 16 km east of Kathmandu Valley. It’s the largest among the three Durbar Square in the city.
Fifty-five windows palace, a five-storied temple, a statue of Ugrachandi, Golden Gate, and Taleju Bell are the prominent visiting monuments here. You’ll complete the tour in two hours with the museum visit and others on the site.
Bhaktapur Durbar Square was near-destroyed by an earthquake in 2015. However, with recent renovation, this place is back to life.

Local Newari cuisine and JuJu yogurt are a must while in Bhaktapur. To the south side of the site are rooftop cafes, best for snacks and elegant views of temples and alleys.
Boudhanath Stupa
Boudhanath Stupa is the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. It sits 11 km northeast of Kathmandu Valley.
The history of Boudhanath Stupa is associated with the Lichhavi Dynasty of Nepal and the Tibetan Empire. Your tour guide will give you in-depth information on Boudhanath and its history while you visit here.
Boudhanath Stupa, a must-visit place during Kathmandu City Tour
The humungous dome with the towering golden spire with Buddha’s eyes makes it a grand-sized stupa. You’ll circumambulate around the dome and visit the ritual places around the site.
On the periphery of the stupa are the finest handicraft shops. Here, you can buy exquisite souvenirs at the best rates. And if you want to taste Tibetan cuisine, ask your guide to take you to a restaurant.
Swayambhunath Stupa
Atop a hill, west of Kathmandu Valley, sits Swayambhunath, the most sacred Buddhist Stupa. The word ‘Swayambhu’ translates to self-evolved. In Tibet, people call this site sublime trees due to the abundance of varieties of trees.
Considered a Buddhist site, Swayambhunath Stupa is equally significant in Hinduism. A Hindu Temple, Ajima Temple, next to Swambhunath, shows that Hinduism and Buddhism co-exist.

Since it’s a Buddhist site, we recommend you to circumambulate around the stupa. From the periphery of this site offers a near-360 panoramic view of the entire Kathmandu valley.
Pashupatinath Temple
Pashupatinath Temple is a Hindu temple of Lord Shiva. This world heritage site is popular among Hindus worldwide and most prominently in the Indian subcontinent. The conception of this holy abode dates back to the 5th century. It spans over 2460000 sq. meters, with more than 519 temples.
Pashupatinath Temple, a prominent and old Hindu pilgrimage site in Kathmandu
This temple has four entrances. However, foreign nationals other than Hindus are not allowed to enter the sacred premises of the temple. Foreigners can explore the Bagmati river bank, open cremation site, and view the temple from the east side, across the Bagmati River.
On your visit here, you’ll attend Aarti during the evening. Thousands of pilgrims gather at the Bagmati river bank to experience the heavenly ritual of Aarti.
Chandragiri Hills
Chandragiri Hills is a beautiful hill station on the southwest of Kathmandu Valley. It’s a must-visit site during the Kathmandu City Tour. From here, you’ll get a complete panoramic view of Kathmandu Valley and the mountains surrounding it. Also, touring here lets you enjoy the serenity away from the bustling alleys of Kathmandu city.

It sits at 2,551 meters altitude, the highest point in Kathmandu Valley. And on a clear weather day, from here, you’ll get a panoramic view of Annapurna, Langtang, and Ganesh Himal. More to it, if the weather becomes 90-100% clear, you’ll get a glimpse of Mt. Everest also.
You’ll visit and pray at Bhaleshwor Temple. And with a beautiful breakfast, you’ll take a cable car and return to the valley to visit other popular sites.

Over the 7 days trek, Bhawani (my guide) became a good friend and I have nothing bad to say about the trek nor the guide. The lodges where clean, the food was good and the views where stunning! Next to the beautiful scenery, playing cards with some milk tea in the evenings where a highlight.

Annapurna Base Camp Trekk
I returned from Nepal just 24 hours ago after two weeks there with my friends doing the Annapurna Base Camp trekk during 10 days. Saroj and Neptrek were our host throughout our stay, with the wonderful Bhawani as our guide, and now also as a friend. I have no words to describe how special everything was; breathing in the Himalayan atmosphere was so much more fun and comforting thanks to Neptrek. It won't be the last time I visit Nepal, and it certainly won't be the last time I do it with them, more trekks ahead are coming for sure!. 100% recommended. Thank you, Gracias and Dhanyabad!

10 day Annapurna Base Camp Trek
I did the 10 days Annapurna Base Camp Trek and I absolutely loved it!! The landscapes were amazing, everyday they changed and it was a true adventure!! The organisation with Saroj from NepTrek and our guide Bhawani was great!! We had no problems and everything went smoothly. Nepali people are very polite and I found everything was clean in the lodges. The food was great too. The trek is sometimes hard but I'd say most people can do it without trouble. There were many people, some of them older doing it. This has been my favourite trip so far. I just got back and I'm already looking forward to my next trip with NepTrek. I would strongly recommend it to everyone!!

The Trek of a lifetime - Guided with Patience and Heart
I found out about NepTrek through a simple Google search while researching trekking options in Nepal and decided to reach out to Saroj via WhatsApp. I was initially worried—there’s always that fear of being scammed or left stranded when booking something so far from home—but Saroj quickly put those fears to rest. From our first conversation, he was professional, warm, and reassuring. His reliability and detailed explanations gave me the confidence to move forward.Saroj recommended the Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) trek, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. Throughout the journey, he was by my side, guiding me, step by step, through breathtaking landscapes: beautiful rice terraces, rivers winding through serene valleys, bamboo forests, suspension bridges, and quaint mountain villages. We even came across donkeys and horses along the way, which added to the charm of the experience.Along the trek, I enjoyed some top-notch food—fresh coffee and pizza, comforting momos, and, of course, the hearty dal bhat served in the villages. The teahouses Saroj arranged for us were clean, cozy, and well-located—just what I needed after a long day of hiking. Some of the most memorable highlights were a majestic waterfall tucked deep in the mountains, a peaceful temple that felt almost sacred in its solitude, and a stunning 360-degree panoramic view of the snow-covered peaks. These moments will forever be etched in my memory. The most challenging part came at the Machapuchare Base Camp (MBC), which was around 3700 meters above sea level. I began experiencing symptoms of altitude sickness and was unsure if I could continue. Saroj, with his calm demeanor and experience, suggested I rest for a couple of hours. He closely monitored me and, based on how I responded, encouraged me to push on—slowly, carefully. I trusted him, and thanks to his steady support, I made it to ABC (4130m)—something I thought was impossible at that point. He took care of me the entire night, ensuring I was safe and comfortable. During the return journey, he carried my backpack for the entire day. This trek is often listed as one of the top ten in the world, and I can say with full confidence that I wouldn’t have been able to complete it—given my age and physical condition—without Saroj. His expertise, patience, and genuine care made all the difference. Completing this trek was a major bucket list item for me, and I have Saroj to thank for making it possible.Highly recommend both NepTrek and Saroj if you're planning a trek in Nepal. You’ll be in safe and capable hands.

ABC- January 2025
In January 2025 my partner and I completed the 10 day ABC trek with Neptrek adventures. This was to celebrate my partners 30th birthday but also to set a challenge for ourselves and to experience something new in a country we have not visited before. Before the trek we were both slightly worried about both the length of continuous days trekking in winter but also the altitude we would reach at ABC and how much this would affect us. Well I can confirm that it was hard work at times but both of us smashed it and the rewards were breathtaking. This trek is not just stunning scenery but an entire experience, that is life changing. A wonderful way to experience life in the Himalayas , and immerse yourself in nature. Neptrek adventures were fantastic!! With us we had our guide, Saroj, and porter, Johan. Both of whom were fantastic company for the duration of the trek, due to their knowledge of the area and great communication skills. I like to think we were all good friends by the end of it and will stay in touch. Saroj had everything planned down to a fine art, but was able to be flexible due to weather conditions and our walking speed. The guesthouses we stayed in were amazing with great food and a friendly atmosphere. Johan was an absolute trooper, helping to carry some of our kit and keeping us laughing. He will have a great future in the trekking industry. I couldn’t recommend Neptrek enough to anyone looking for a trekking guide in Nepal, we will certainly be trekking with them again on our next trip! Reaching base camp was one of many highlights of the trip and a very rewarding experience. But everyday was as enjoyable as the last with new terrain, new scenery, and plenty of delicious Dahl Baht!! So if you’re looking for a trekking company that provides excellent service, great companionship and a professional photography, Neptrek definitely hits the mark. Thanks Neptrek for the most amazing experience, I can’t wait to be back!
