Apart from scenic views, Gokyo Lakes holds great hydrological value in the Himalayas. The water from these lakes merges in Dudh Koshi River via Longabanga and Taujon Lake.

Religious significance

Being a freshwater system on the base of mountains like Cho Oyu, Gokyo Lakes is also a famous Hindu and Buddhist pilgrimage site. Lord Vishnu and Shiva are among the Hindu gods believed to be residing in the Gokyo system. Thus, to revere, there’s also a small temple on the western corner of the Gokyo Cho.

Yearly, during Janaipurnima, a significant Hindu festival, more than 500 pilgrims take a bath at the Gokyo Lakes. Also, Buddhist pilgrims visit here during Buddha Purnima for various pooja and occasions.

While trekking to Langtang, the glimpse of mountains only appears past Langtang Village, precisely from Mundum. Once reaching Mundum, this trekking is a bit scenic.

For the ultimate viewing of mountains in Langtang Valley, you must hike to Kyanjin Ri or Tsergo Ri. Kyanjin Ri low altitude seated vantage point where Tsergo Ri is above 5000 meters. You’ll get the best view possible if you can hike to Tsergo Ri.

The scenic Kyanjin village, wide-span Langtang river bank, pasture lands, and glaciers make the scenery further enticing.

Langtang Valley Trek- Tamang Heritage Experience

Like Sherpa in the Everest region, Tamang ethnic community reside in the Langtang region. As these are also mountain people, they have enriched heritage, culture, traditions, and unique lifestyles.

Tamang Heritage Trekking in the Langtang region is mainly famous among trekkers. You’ll trek to lower areas in Langtang, like Timure, Briddim, Gatlang, and other places. However, trekkers enjoy Tamang heritage while traveling to Kyanjin and Langtang villages.

The most visible Tamang heritage is the interior decoration at tea house dining. Certain local meals like Khapsa and Tibetan bread also offer trekkers the local taste of Langtang. The prayer flags, Mani wheels, and memorials en route reflect their preserved cultural practice.

Affordable tea houses with modern amenities

Even though Langtang Trek is not as hyped as EBC Trek and ABC Trek, the tea houses here offer the best accommodation services.

The expansive tea houses and twin sharing rooms are the best you could find while trekking in Nepal. And you’ll get such rooms throughout the Langtang trek, especially at Langtang and Kyanjin.

Kyanjin especially looks like a town on the lap of the Himalayas. The tea houses here are one of the best. Almost every tea house in Kyanjin and Langtang is two to three stories tall. And these tea houses accommodate more than 30 people at once.

The great advantage of Langtang Trek is that you can get electricity for free. The small hydropower at Kyanjin powers the Langtang and Kyanjin region. Hence, a trekker can charge their gadgets and mobile devices for free.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner meals on this trek are best. Almost every tea house here offers healthier meals with broad meal menus to choose.

Peaceful trekking route

As very few trekkers trek in this place, the trail remains peaceful all day. Even if you find few trekkers, the route remains utterly silent. The only things you’ll hear on this route are bird chirps, rushing rivers, whistling wind and rustling leaves of juniper and pine trees.

As you start this trek from Chhet Chhet and Simi Gaun’s lower lands to high-altitude places like Bedding and Na Village, you’ll experience every form of landscape and vegetation. The trekking route to Tsho Rolpa Lake trails close to the Rolwaling River and along the enriched vegetation. With an utterly peaceful hike all day, you’ll enjoy the serenity of this trek.

Primitive Tea Houses

Tsho Rolpa Trek is not a commercial trek like Everest Base Camp Trek and Annapurna Base Camp Trek. Here, you won’t find any modern amenities at the tea houses, but the basic lodging and food offer you good rest and taste.

You won’t find French Toast and your favourite pie. But, the tea houses at Surmuche and Bedding offer tasty Dal Bhat with mushroom pickles and fresh spinach. Sometimes, it’s better to avoid your favourite meal and trek like a local on an off-beat route.

If you’re an internet guy, it’s a sad news. You won’t find internet and wifi at any tea houses on this trek. However, you’ll still benefit from using electricity to charge your camera and phones to capture amazing photos and videos all day.

Tsho Rolpa Trek- Best budget trekking in Nepal

Trekking in Nepal is expensive if considering Everest and Annapurna region trekking. However, Tsho Rolpa trek is one of the best budget trekking. In this seven-day trek, you’ll barely spend more than 20 thousand Nepali rupees if you trekk independently.

If you want to avoid sleeping at the tea house, you can use the tea house’s property to set up your tents. Within a few dollars, you’ll get ample space for campsite setup.
